Advocate for Early Care and Education
We need your voice now to protect investments in our youngest children.
Take action before Monday, May 12!
This is an especially difficult budget year, and Montgomery County Council is looking to make cuts to vital early childhood services. The Children’s Opportunity Alliance budget may also be at risk.
For every $1 million that’s cut, 100 fewer children will be served.
Tell County Council now to protect and stabilize investments in young children.

Dear Councilmember,
My name is [add name] and I am writing [on behalf of XX organization, as a concerned parent, as an early childhood educator, etc.] to ask you to protect and fully fund early childhood programs and services.
Please fully fund the Department of Health and Human Services - Children, Youth, and Families, the Early Care and Education Non-Departmental Account, and the Children’s Opportunity Alliance Non-Departmental Account, as recommended by the County Executive. These budgets fund initiatives that are vital to ensuring that our county’s youngest children thrive.
Investing in early childhood creates better education, health, social, and economic outcomes for our entire community that increase revenue and reduce the need for costly social spending. The best investments we can make are in quality early childhood development for birth to 5 for our most vulnerable children and the adults who care for them. We don’t currently invest enough in our young children, and now is not the time to make cuts to these critical resources.
I care about investments in young children because… [add your own detail here]
Thank you for your time, and thank you in advance for voting to keep the recommended budgets for these valuable initiatives stable.
Sincerely,
[your name]
