Horizon Child Care
Maryland’s Child Care Scholarship (CCS) helps eligible Montgomery County families pay for early care and education. However, enrollment in this critical resource was frozen in May 2025 and remains closed for new applicants. Horizon Child Care shares their story of how the freeze impacts children and parents at their ECE center.
“This year, we have two Kindergarten children using the State of Maryland’s Child Care Scholarship (CCS) Program, where we would normally have 15-20 children using that program. I have had many parents tell me that they were told that they were on a waiting list for the scholarships. We have enrolled a few children in Horizon [Child Care] scholarships, but that is not a viable solution for the needs of the community. ”
